The price of an annual membership is 17 DKK per month – which is equivalent to the price of permanently bringing water to one person through one of our projects.

The membership fee is paid for one year in advance at a total of 200 DKK annually

By signing up as a member Walking for Water is allowed to draw the membership amount of 200 DKK once yearly, hereby renewing the membership.

If your card expires, the yearly renewal of the membership will be stopped. We therefore ask you to please update your card information by contacting us at info@walkingforwater.dk.

By signing up as a member Walking for Water is allowed to contact the member by email in order to renew the membership when the card used for renewal expires or changes.

If you would like your membership to be terminated before the yearly automatic renewal, please let us know by contacting us at info@walkingforwater.dk.

"The worst thing about this, is that it hurts my neck" These are the words we constantly hear from young kids who help their mothers carry water along the way.

These young heroes volunteer to help their mothers carry water daily although it's not a job they love !

It is a physically demanding , time consuming job that they have to do everyday to bring water to their families.

The path of the water changes frequently and so the journey obstacles are not predictable !

Safe and clean water is a human right for everyone. That's why we started our mission for providing safe and clean water access for African families.
We need your help and support to help those kids have readily available clean water. This gives them the opportunity to live a normal childhood and removes the burden from their mothers.

At Walking for Water we are marking World Water Day 2023, today, by handing over a public water service for the community of Pakro in Ghana.

The water service is estimated to provide basic access to water for 3609 men, women and children living within a radius of 1,5 kilometres. 🛖👴🏾👩🏾👶🏾

Facts about water 💧

Clean water is a condition for us to live. Child mortality is high in the areas where there is no access to water.

High Childhood Mortality Rates Linked to Clean Water Scarcity.

Every year, an estimated 484,000 children younger than five years of age perish from diarrhea. Many of these children come from low- and middle-income countries that don’t have access to healthy water sources.

Unsafe water that causes diarrhea has often been contaminated before being consumed by children.

More childhood deaths occur from diarrhea than the mortality rates caused by malaria, measles, and AIDS combined.

Infectious diseases linked to diarrhea include cholera and dysentery. Without safe water treatments, contaminants like feces can enter water sources.

The hairlines have become a little higher and the wrinkles have become a little deeper. The residents of Lengasti, Tanzania have water - so have more than 60 other local communities in Africa, but the goal and the destination is still the same 🌍

Charlie will complete his journey to Tanzania. He will walk across Africa and raise awareness of the global water crisis, which still causes huge challenges such as poor hygiene and life-threatening diseases.

And yes, it took a bit more than the 2.5 years he had expected to complete the journey, but that’s just part of the adventure 🥾

Follow his journey when he continues again on May 18 - exactly eight years after he left the square in Esbjerg, Denmark with his Mule 💧

In the families that do not have access to clean water, it is usually women and girls who are responsible for fetching clean water. Water, which in some cases they have to walk very far to collect.

UN WATER writes:

📝 “Women and girls usually have the responsibility of fetching water. This can be a dangerous, time-consuming and physically demanding task. Long journeys by foot, often more than once a day, can leave women and girls vulnerable to attack and often precludes them from school or earning an income.”
