Water for 1,050 people.

Four wells in Joe Town, Sierra Leone have now been completed and handed over.

A total of 1,050 people now have access to clean water in the Sannoh Section, Janneh Section, Farma Section and Tommy be.

Tommy be finished as the last of the four wells, and here 300 people now have access to clean drinking water. In Sannoh Section another 300 people are benefiting from a new well 💧in Janneh Section and in Farma Section a total of 450 people are now able to fetch clean water from their new wells.

Thanks to donations and the purchase of flowers and merchandise, it has been possible for Walking for Water to sponsor these four wells.

Do you remember this day?

Six years ago today Charlie began his journey on foot to Tanzania. Much has happened since then; Walking for Water has grown, many African communities has gained access to clean drinking water, and we are proud of the journey 💙 ... but we are far from finished. Many more wells need to be built 💪🏽

In addition to the many water projects, Charlie will also complete his journey, which has been put on hold since August 2019, when he had to leave Nigeria involuntarily.

Until then, we continue to work on our mission back home from Denmark, and we are proud and happy about what we have achieved so far 💧

It's not just about water 💧

We build wells to ensure clean drinking water for people who do not have access to this. But clean drinking water is not the only positive thing that comes out of our projects. Every time a well is built, locals are trained to establish, maintain and renovate them.

Go to our facebook page and read our local partner EcoWater Solutions SL Ltd's inspiring story about Morlai, who despite his disability is now acquiring skills that make him indispensable in a society that has previously looked down on him.

General assembly💧

Last week, Walking for Water had a general assembly and in connection to that the chairman has made a report for 2020. This can be found in our newest post on Facebook.

After two years as chairman, Daniel Klitgaard resigns and instead we welcome our new chairman Franziska Alexandra Tamara.

We would like to thank Daniel for his efforts, and wish him all the best in the future 👏🏼

We look forward to the new collaboration with Franziska, which we are sure can contribute a lot to Walking for Water. There will be a proper introduction of Franziska in a later post so you can all get to know her.

“Jeg hedder Julie og jeg er 29 år gammel og bor i Aarhus. Jeg har været frivillig ved Walking for Water siden november 2020, og jeg er en del af SoMe gruppen, som står for at opdatere de sociale medier.

Til daglig er jeg event- og marketingkoordinatorelev, og har i forvejen en uddannelse som Serviceøkonom og administrativ assistent, så jeg føler, at jeg er landet på den rigtige hylde i forhold til, hvor jeg kan bidrage med mest til Walking for Water.

Ved siden af mit arbejde og Walking for Water er jeg i gang med at renovere lejlighed, så lige i øjeblikket går der meget tid med det. Ellers er træning, yoga, lange gåture og rejser øverst på listen over favoritbeskæftigelser.

Jeg har altid gerne villet lave frivilligt arbejde, men jeg har ikke fundet noget, hvor jeg følte, at jeg kunne gøre en forskel før nu. Walking for Water er en lille organisation, og derfor kan man virkelig se, at det man laver, gør en forskel. I en kæmpe organisation, kan den enkelte ikke på samme måde se det, som man kan i en lille. Det synes jeg er fedt. Og så kan man få rigtig meget indflydelse på organisationen og sine opgaver, og man bliver både set og hørt.

Jeg er ret sikker på, at jeg hørte om Walking for Water første gang, da Charlie tog afsted tilbage i 2015, men det var først da jeg mødte Charlie i efteråret 2020, at jeg engagerede mig i organisationen.”
